For  its activity, EIF deploys either its own resources or resources mandated by its shareholders.

EIB resources

The EIB has given the EIF several venture capital mandates such as :

  • the European Technology Facility Mandate (ETF) in 1997
  • ETF-2 in 1999
  • the Risk Capital Mandate (RCM) in 2000, which comprises the lion's share of EIF's investments
  • the Mezzanine Facility for Growth in 2009

Joint resources from the EIB & European Commission

The European Commission allocates resources to the EIF on a trust basis, making use of EIF operational expertise to manage the various joint initiatives created to reach specific targets, such as :

Resources from non-shareholder sources

EIF seeks to further enhance its market impact by establishing joint investment facilities with public and private entities. EIF achieves this objective through investments in country specific Fund-of Funds and multi-country or sector specific Fund-of Funds, such as:
